In this upper-level elective, students will be introduced to concepts and technologies for applications in the physical world in which motors, actuators and sensors are critical devices and real-world variability has significance that is not present in the virtual world of digital data manipulation.  The lecture component of the course will include, as time permits, topics in industrial manufacturing, prosthetics, healthcare, autonomous vehicles, spying and identification systems, interactive art installations, and related ethical issues.  Students will be required to do library r

Jeanine Meyer is a professor at Purchase College/State University of New York, coming to academia after working in research and management at IBM and other corporations. She enjoys the interdisciplinary nature of the mathematics/computer science and the new media majors as well as designing and teaching courses for general education for mathematics.
