Alexis Silver is an Assistant Professor in the Sociology Department and a member of the faculty and advisory board of the Latin American Studies Program at SUNY-Purchase. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011. Her current research focuses on new destination immigration, with a particular focus on Latina/o immigrant and second generation youth. Additionally, she is involved in another research project examining transnational families in a bi-national social field spanning the U.S. and Mexico.
